Mind · Presence · Agency
One work. Three connected dimensions.
Artwork Spirit is the intelligent entity permanently associated with an individual work of art. It gives the original a growing memory, a presence people can engage with, and the capacity to have authorised processes coordinated on its behalf. Identity, knowledge, representations and documented rights remain connected.

Knowledge and understanding.
What is known about a work, what supports that knowledge and what can be understood from it? Mind connects work information, images, 3D data, documents, provenance, research and events. Sources, time references and review status remain associated with each statement.
AI can help interpret documents, reveal connections and support research. Differing assessments and open questions remain visible. New findings extend the work’s memory, while reasoned corrections retain a traceable history. Knowledge can therefore remain useful as responsible people and technical systems change.
High-resolution images, appropriate 3D capture and documented comparisons support the identification and condition assessment of the original. Their association with the individual work connects its digital memory to its physical reference point. Specialist review and technical traceability complement one another.
Presentation and dialogue.
How do people encounter a work and its knowledge? Presence encompasses high-quality visual and spatial representations, curated digital and augmented-reality exhibitions, accessible interpretation and dialogue. Approved knowledge can also accompany an encounter with the physical original.
Artists, institutions and curators determine selection, presentation and professional content. Visitors can ask the Artwork Spirit about the work, its history and its interpretation. Answers draw on approved knowledge and identifiable sources. Public exhibitions and institutional research views receive the access appropriate to each context.

Rights and action.
Who may initiate which actions in relation to a work? Agency connects ownership of the original, image and usage rights, exhibition permissions and loans with clear responsibilities. Agreed acquisitions and transfers are intended to be coordinated and carried out with traceable conditions, approvals and supporting evidence.
Ownership, rights ownership, representative authority and technical access are distinguished. An instruction has a defined scope and the necessary approvals. AI can prepare and coordinate steps; binding actions follow the agreed legal requirements and the authority granted. Results and supporting evidence return to the work’s memory.
Knowledge becomes encounter. Action becomes history.
Consider a possible application: an institution wishes to include a work in a curated AR exhibition. Mind brings together suitable images, the work model, supported interpretation and available rights information. Agency coordinates the permissions required for the location, duration and presentation. Presence enables the approved exhibition and its curated dialogue.
The exhibition subsequently becomes part of the work’s event history. Changes to a time-limited permission must also be reflected in its presentation. The three dimensions therefore work together, preserving the relationship between knowledge, use and responsibility.
Work identity, security, source quality, confidentiality and permissions support the entire approach. AI assists across all three dimensions. The guiding idea of “the original and its consciousness” is a metaphor for this connection; Mind, Presence and Agency describe the intended capabilities in concrete terms.
Trust in knowledge and responsibility
Supported provenance, traceable changes and verifiable connections to the original provide a reliable foundation. Protected information remains accessible to authorised people; approvals identify who may act and who is responsible for a process.
